    To be honest, it kind of reminds me of what we moved out of when we got out of a decade of debt. We merely kept ours more or less in one piece.

    Here is the "First wooden house in California." Monterrey, California.

    I do not assume this is damage from the 1906 earthquake, as Monterrey is too far from the epicenter.

    I doubt it's still standing. LOL.

      Monterey was affected quite a bit in the 1906 quake. it very nearly destroyed the main hotel in town and did lots more damage. the epicenter was 2 miles off the coast of san francisco, which isn't very far from monterey. it seems like the climate here in california is not very good to wooden structures over the long term. if they survive at all, they always seem to need major restoration - like replacement of all the wood - to keep them from falling apart.
