      The drawing is not signed with a name, only a symbol. The name on the back is the name of the business that framed the sketch. I think tracking down the artist would be next to impossible. The names do not come up on a Google search.

      Charming painting!

      I'd use the location as the start point of research: Naworth.

      Quick online research shows Naworth Castle-- this may have been the surrounding area.

      The artist may not be a professional, could have been a family member/ friend, etc...

      Additionally, the locations for the framer seem to be in a different part of the country. The frame isn't what I would expect for the 1880s-- it looks more like 20th century, so I would think this was framed 20+ years AFTER it was painted.

      I'd ask the current owner if the family or symbol is something he is familiar with.
      He is probably very familiar with the history of the Castle/ families/ surrounding area and my provide some clues.
