It is only about two inches across and an inch or so tall. Every rhinestone still seems intact. The backing looks like unglazed ceramic. My grandmother passed in 1999 and I have had these in a jewelry box for years. She was born in 1928 and most of her jewelryy seems 50s and 60s to me but I know nothing about these things. I would be interested to know anything about this piece. Will be hanging on to this one.
A picture of the reverse might help. Pretty brooch! :)
The pic of the back was not helpful, unfortunately, too far away and out of focus. My best guess for now would be a carved celluloid brooch, circa 1940s -60s. Early celluloid is lightweight and looks like regular plastic (which it is) but later on (60s-70s maybe), there were a number of jewelry pieces and trinket boxes made of heavier stuff resembling chalk in appearance (if you look at the unpainted underside), and I personally don't know much about it and many people just group it with celluloid even though I suspect it might be called something else. And my feeling is your pin is made of that heavier material and decorated with beads and rhinestones as far as I can tell from those photos. Sorry can't be of more help. Good luck!
