I picked this up with "miscellaneous paper."
The letter reads as follows:
East Pleasant Plain Pa
Apr. 6, 1913
Dear Mrs. Clarke.
Pardon me for not writing sooner and thanking you for the very nice letter you wrote but it is such hard work for me to get settled down to writing. Was very sorry you had not heard of Dear Mother's death sooner I intended telling nurses to let you know [next page] but had as much on my mind that [????] I forgot it. Bro. said he thought of it when he was in town but he said every one seemed to know it so he supposed you folks did too. [???] is so lonely with out mother and I miss her so much.
Wish you could of come along with the Dr. the other day when he [went??] to Germanville if he has to [next side] come again come along. My sisters were both here today.
No I did not get ill but have not felt so well for the past few wks. Think I must have the spring fever "for we have had so much nice spring weather." Expect will feel better when the weather gets nicer so. I can work in the garden.
Will close Thanking you again for your kindness and come [next page] visit me when you can.
Very truly yours,
[Clara???] M. Messer.?
