This pendant appears to be all in one piece of metal. the cross is raised but is even with the back of it. The clasp is made on the back of the pendant as well and so there is no hole in it. Not sure what it is made of. Any information you can give me about this would be great. Thank you.
Not really possible to tell from photos, but it looks like pewter and brass. Might even be base metal. Can only guess.
Thanks efesgirl, was going to post earlier it is probably pewter but not sure and was afraid I might offend. Probably a catholic piece.
beautiful!!!
I used to have a pewter Cross. Loved it.
Sadly it's too soft a metal. So it broke.
I got a glass cross after that.... Loved it.
One day I picked it up in my hand and it exploded. I felt so bad. It just didn't seem possible.
I don't think this was made for a particular denomination. It would appeal more to younger Protestants rather than most Catholics (from my experience, albeit I'm non-denominational, Catholics seem to go with more traditional pieces and give more traditional pieces to their loved ones.)
The background is meant to be a rock design. Likely The Rock of My Salvation. The raised cross could mean many things albeit was just likely a design element to draw main attention-- it's empty, showing Christ has risen from death and therefore we are no longer bound to death by our sin, but bound to God for life if we choose Him.
The cross looks copper to me. It pops out nicely from the design.
