Rose, i'm thinking your globe is from 1939 as dated (in your previous post). In 1939-40 there was a lot of transition in Eastern Europe, some of which already recorded on your globe and some not yet. Poland seems to look pre-Soviet annexations, Belarus is not shown perhaps because no one ever considered it a separate entity, it was always under someone's reign. I'm not sure why Moldova is not shown... as well as why Israel is shown, i always though it officially started to appear on maps after 1948. The globe is not detailed in terms of showing towns and cities which are usually a major help in identifying borders and changes. Sorry, maybe someone more knowledgeable will stop by.

There are several inconsistencies.Moldova is not the problem; it was a part of Soviet Union. Israel cannot appear before WW II. Queen Elisabeth II cannot be mentioned before WW II, either. But the makers obviously used old maps of some regions, e.g. Istria peninsula depicted here as a part of Italy (now in Croatia and after 1945 in Yugoslavia). In short, the globe was made after WW II but with older maps.

Ivan, very interesting. That seems to explain the inconsistencies i was puzzled over, like what do you think about placement of Armenia on this map? And if the globe is dated 1939, why do Baltic countries appear on it...etc.

@ IVAN49 --> Thanks for that info also. I did post more pics of this -- but some things are conflicting eh ? Do date wise, what is your guess?
      Thanks all
