This caught my eye at Volunteers of America this morning. Not quite a hoop vase in fact it's more like a column. A beautiful rich butterscotch color with marbled streaks of brown, olive and burgundy. One side has more marbling than the other. The interior is cased in white. Nothing I can pin down with online research. No marks or labels either but my collector sense is tingling on this one that it may be something good. I have a hunch this may be a Carlo Moretti vase from the 60's or 70's. -Mike-
I think you are right Mike. Let's see what the Murano experts say.
Thanks Karen....just about every piece of Moretti online is linked to 20th century glasses encyclopedia. Some of his pieces have the thick clear base but some are like this one. Rather thin cased glass that reminds me of Czech glass which could be a possibility too. I think the shape is a cross between Deco and the Scandi hoop vases. It pretty cool. I was very pleased to find it in perfect condition. So far you're the only one to comment. :)
Oh my what delicious glass, Mike! It's like a big lickable lollipop! :)
Thanks Katherine :)...It's the same color as Smucker's butterscotch topping for an ice cream sundae. Everything about this vase is sweet !
beautiful!!
Thanks Sean :)
Hi Mark, I found three of your mystery items recently in Australia. I have posted pics. I hope you are able to view them. I am not confident enough to call them Moretti or Scandinavian. No doubt 1960 - 1980. I will try researching the Florentine glass makers. Cheers, Chris.
