My small collection of Grapette memorabilia. A counter display, a 24 bottle carrier, and a 1947 bottle that were all found at local flea markets years ago.
This is the only style of Grapette that I ever found that was St. Louis marked.
The local Grapette Bottling Co. also produced Clown Beverages. Marked on the back Clown Bottling Co., St. Louis Missouri, however Grapette is not mentioned. But the bottle cap clearly links the two together. The bottle is dated 1952 and is 10 0z. I've have seen a 7 oz. version out there but I have yet to get my hands on one. The root beer caps are quite plentiful but I have seen a cream soda Clown cap at auction and failed to bid. I imagine Clown had many different flavors.

Look at that, I wonder if there is any Clown stuff out there still, like mirrors, metal signs and the like?

In all my years of collecting, I haven't seen any advertisements for Clown, but that does not mean there isn't any.

Cool, Clown Root Beer. I have had my share of Grapette but never heard of Clown beverages.

Thanks AzTom, I'm glad you like the post. I think Clown was around town before Grapette set up a plant here in St. Louis. I just can't come up with anything in my research.
