"Sioux Indian War" medals were issued to Nebraska National Guardsmen deployed to northwestern Nebraska in the wake of the December 29, 1890, Wounded Knee Massacre. The soldiers did no fighting and soon returned home.
Very cool.
Welcome. :)
Wonder if the SOB"s who did the massacre got medals ?
Not sure many medals should have been given out. Wounded knee sounds like it was a disaster.
It was undisguised murder. Deliberate genocide. Read: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. U.S. gov't. can be no better than the Nazi's.
Blunder, in regard to your question above, Medals of Honor were awarded to twenty soldiers for their actions at Wounded Knee. The narrative of what happened that day was quite different back then and in my opinion the medals were part of a smoke screen to cover up the truth.
Chris
Certainly Chris. Just like today & ever since leadership was developed.
