Chinese Japanese Asian Red Clay Black Glaze Yixing Calligraphy Ink Jar Brush Washer

Hexagonal jar with Asian calligraphy. Not sure at all of province or date. Appears to be an older piece showing calcium deposits around top rim which are stained blue perhaps from ink. Would like to know translation of writing if possible, use, and which Asian country it may have originated. It measures 4 3/4" inches in height and 4" diameter.
