This is my Springfield Armory M1911A1 .45 auto pistol with parkerized finish, has GI black plastic checkered grips, three dot high profile combat sights, flared ejection port, beveled mag well for quicker loading of the magazine, serrated front strap for better grip.

the M1911A1 has been in service for over 105 years and still going strong

from WWI , WW2, Korea, Vietnam, to present day, it's still in use by US military , the USMC still uses a modified version known as the M45 MEUSOC pistol

MEUSOC = Marine Expeditionary Units ( Special Operations Capable)

When one is holding one of these there is little doubt that it is gun (ok pistol). And when firing it that is no doubt.

Im a big fan of the Model 1911A1 pistols, this one has over 6,000 rds fired through it and the slide still fits tight like it was new, plus the parts are very easy to get if you ever needed to do repairs or maintenance, lots of parts support for these pistols.

When I was still a young NCO, I'd offer to clean my CO's M1911A1, and he was always happy to accept, rather than spend the time himself. I just liked the feel of the weapon and took pride in how fast I could strip and reassemble it.

By the time I was issued a pistol, it was usually the M9. Also a nice pistol, but just not the same.

Field stripping & reassemble of my M1911A1 is very enjoyable, since it's so easy , I love cleaning and lubing the pistol and like the sound of racking the slide after it's cleaned and lubed then wiping it down with a light coat of oil.
