Thrift Store finds -
The monterey furniture dry sink/bar and chairs were designed by the prolific and soon to be pioneer of California Mid-Century Modernism Kem Weber, built by the Mason Manufacturing Company of Los Angeles starting 1929, and sold by the Barker Brothers Furniture Stores this rustic style completely set the tone of the Spanish Revival Architecture and Rancho style homes being built in California at the time.
With its echoes of Spanish colonial style, the Arts & Crafts Movement, and often playful referencing of the Wild West, the romance and exciting livability evokes the California Dream, an essential element of California design.
I have never seen the dry sink before and could only find a single picture but no information on the web. If you know anything about these pieces - fill me in !!!
Hello,
I have several pieces of furniture the exact same as the two chairs in the picture. The collection was in my grandparents home my entire life. I am still storing all of the remaining pieces. Please contact me if you or anyone is interested.
