These baskets were given to my grandfather for medical care he gave to them from 1885 a 1890. He would sew up wounds, treat broken bones, etc. He was in Alaska working for an oil company as a field worker. Growing up on a farm, he learned how to heal animals and used to work for a vet.
He was very respected by the Eskimos and they would give him the baskets as payment for his helping them.
They are an extinct tribe now.

These are traditional twined spruce root baskets, made by the Tlingit Indians, along the borders of Alaska and Canada. They are not Inuit or Eskimo...nor are they an extinct tribe!
The baskets are very fragile, so often have cracks or broken areas. These look like they've been well cared for. Tlingit baskets in great condition are very desirable. If any of these are "rattle tops" it increases the value considerably.
WOW these are Beautiful!! I have a couple of these Tlingit baskets and they are made so intricately and look so amazing. I love your baskets, thanks for putting them up :)

I hope you did not take Klickitatcat's offer. Those baskets of yours are in pristine condition and are worth SO much more than his/her paltry offer. I guarantee if you did sell them to him/her, they will be each sold for what was offered here. For each basket.
