This iridescent vase has four dimples, a crown like neck, a polished pontil and a finely executed floral design. Examined closely each line comprises both enamelling and gilding.

This shape has been identified by two people, independently, as Loetz.

Image 4 Shows four vases that I have with enamelling and gilding in this style. One of them is Loetz Dek 1/107.....the others are unknown. Each design has a distinctive flower.

Typical Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) form and design, asymmetric, wavy stems etc. On the other hand e.g. I/269, I/342 do not belong to Art Nouveau, but it`s not for us to judge the esthetics at the turn of 19th century.
Compare with this one and tell me your opinion, please. (Not Loetz, I think)

@ IVAN I was using Art Nouveau in the sense of the period, not the aesthetic. Unfortunately my opinion would be no help as what little I know about Loetz comes from internet sites.....

I will say that I agree that your rose bowl is Bohemian. The motif in image 2 is found on other types of Bohemian glass and even on Bohemian pottery. I'm sorry to be no help!

Love your pieces, especially the last picture where you feature groupings, they are absolutely gorgeous! :)

Thank you for your compliment, Katherine. I do think showing a relevant group can be interesting sometimes.

      Nice grouping Peggy.
      Congrats

Such a beauty Peggy and the group is wonderful. That green ground is gorgeous.
I am always amazed at the apparent similarity of decor with Bohemian glass.
So one has been identified as Loetz and the others not. It must take a great deal of study and knowledge to know the identifying features.

Thank you Alan, for taking the time to comment, especially at the moment.

Thank you, Karen. Some have their reference code written in the polished pontil. Others don't....either washed away or never there perhaps. I suppose it just needs one with a certain motif to come to light with a code written on it. Just guessing.

Sklo, for what it is worth, I saw your vase in the first image, and immediately thought it was a Loetz DEK. The style is just so similar. I am thinking that time will eventually tell. :)

Michelle, it's worth a lot actually. The one on the left in image 4 appears on Loetz.com yet mine has no factory reference written in the pontil.......

sklo, a lot of the DEKs in this kind of style that are on CW don't have the numbering on them anymore. Let me go through my files & the CD and see if I can at least ID the vase shape as Loetz...
