I posted it this several years ago and never really got any responses so I was hoping that after all of this time, someone may help identifying this little beauty. I picked it up at an estate sale probably 25 - 30 years ago. It measures approximately 3" in length. The mouth piece is 1" long X 1/2" wide and appears to be lacquered wood. The leg and claw measure 2" long x 3/4" high and the bowl is about 1/2" in diameter. The detail on this pipe is absolutely incredibly but surprisingly I can't find a mark of any kind on it.
The bowl seems awfully small for tobacco, but it seems to old for smoking anything else in (at least that I would be aware of.) Could it be a ladies pipe? Any ideas on where, when, who and what for would be really cool. Thank you all in advance.
beautiful!!
Looks like an Eagle Claw to me ( ?? ).....Found some in wood but nothing like yours.
Tobacco Smoking pipe "Eagle's Claw"
Just a guess......??
Could it be a holder for cigarettes or a small cigar?
It has a bowl on it so I doubt that it would be for cigars or cigarettes. They would stick up and not out
