I have purchased this beautiful vanity on the craigslist recently. It looks like it was manufactured after 1920 as the mirror bears a stamp on it. Sadly though, it has a date without year. Does anybody know anything about this piece? It has walnut veneers and industrial steel wheels. The mirror is stamped P.M&G (Co?), April 28th. Interestingly, there is all kind of pencil writings inside of drawers. Mostly numbers and words in cursive: "Sanded", "Vanity" and in Russian cursive "DBE" (that means two). It was probably a Russian immigrant at a factory I would guess. I purchased the piece in Columbus, and they have a huge Russian community dating more than 100 years ago. That makes me think that mysterious furniture company could have been located near Columbus Oh. Any help is greatly appreciated.

      Nice piece.

I am not familiar with the maker; however, I do agree with the dating. Based on the style and features, I would date it to the 2nd quarter, 20th century.

Very beautiful, did you purchase it in this condition on craigslist? I have googled this and it seems to be coming up from Dayton, Ohio in the US. No hard hits.

Thank you. Yes, I bought it last week on craigslist in Columbus. All I did put a coat of wax on it and replaced the fogged up mirrors. I love it. I like how they made the furniture petite in old days, nothing big and massive.

I think so to. Plus, there was a white gold super thin chain in the grove of the drawer as an extra bonus. Where can I see yours?
    10. Lamplover78 Lamplover78, 8 years ago
That's definitely a nice bonus! If you click on my picture all my post will come up. .you will have to scroll down. Mine not as nice as yours.

I saw yours. It is also very similar. I just got very lucky with price. I did end up replacing the mirror for personal use. So it cost me about $220 with the mirror +free 14K chain.

You should of kept the mirror. If you ever want to sell it, lots of people like the original everything. But i would've like a new mirror. I actually use mine.
    13. ahardman, 8 years ago
Well, if the value of it was over 1K, I would have kept the old one. I replaced it for personal daily use. The old mirror was very bad.

Hi there! I found an adorable "Vanity" with Mirror on the side of the road and so it began! I decided to strip it because of the color and then I restained it a black. It has wooden casters and brass handles on the two drawers. Today I came home and one of my pets knocked into it and the mirror fell off, thankfully it didn't break but what I found was a marking on the back of the mirror, P. M. & G. Co. Jan '25..1925..it also has a number on the back of the Vanity, #704. I haven't been able to find anything about this company except the few things on here! Help! Now I NEED to know! Thank you!

Krisseykatz i would love to see what you have got! I recently picked up a dresser and matching vanity that was painted. I stripped the paint off and sanded and stained it. Its become my new hobby.
    17. ahardman, 7 years ago
Well, I did not find out anything about the company. I know it was manufactured in 1928. My one is in great condition, no need to strip or paint. I use it daily, and absolutely love it. If you find anything please give updates. I will do the same. Anna

I've actually been looking at a buffet and antique hutch. The legs match very well. If i decide to buy them I'll see if they have any maker. And of coarse post them.
