I love hoard many different kind of things, but Crown Devon pottery is my number one favourite.
Vellum ware (otherwise known as blush ware) was one of the outstanding successes of the company. This pottery was shaded top and bottom in pale biscuit colour (sometimes greenish tinge was added to it) and the centre was decorated with a spray of flowers, hand-painted and picked out in gold.
This pair of serpent vases is a nice example of a vellum ware. They bear the big crown mark, which was used from c 1900 until 1910.
The shape is uncommon, decorated with some mythical, gold painted creature. The vases are 11'' tall.

The quality of the painting on these is amazing. I had to really look to see the differences and signs of hand work. Beautiful vases Martika.

Thank you Racer and Mike for your nice comments. It was an eBay buy and I think I've got it quite cheaply - two pairs of vases (both pairs rare shape and pattern, plus one more common jug) - the all lot were together around £60.

These are lovely too. They make a gorgeous pair. I'm amazed to discover so many makers associated with this kind of ware.

Yes, Fieldings were famous for their blush ivory pottery. They made so many shapes, had so many patterns, even today often new patterns are 'discovered'.
