My intentions were originally to show the cream top spoon and cream dipper, but I thought that it would be nice to show two baby face cream top milk bottles with the spoons. I picked out of my showcase a double baby faced cream top milk bottle and (to my surprise) a cop faced cream top milk bottle. I didn't even know that I had a cop top bottle until I washed them to photograph them. The double faced bottles are uncommon, but the cop top bottles are quite rare. And now I know that I have one. Under the rim it is embossed with "Cop The Cream Bottle Co. Inc." If you look closely, you can see his brimmed police cap.
The cream top spoon was to dip into the top bulb of the bottle and spoon out the cream that floated above the milk (this was before Homogenized milk was popular). You could then use this heavy cream in your tea or coffee.
The cream dipper was similarly used, probably by dad for his morning coffee before the kids poured the milk on their corn flakes.
To use it, you dipped the one ounce cup shaped bottom into the cream top bottle to capture the floating cream. You pulled the dipper (full of cream) out of the bottle, held it over your cup of joe and pulled the hook in the direction of the ringed top and the tool would separate, dumping the rich cream into your cup. There is a patent date on the wire loop of 1902. The cream top spoon has a patent date of 1924

No warehouse bb, Just a 2000 sq. ft. home. My wife and I decorate the house with our collection. I also have an 1800 sq. ft. barn that I built to keep my larger items in.

Fascinating! Thank u for all this info! It's so cool thinking about the past like that. Before all this technology and electronics. How simple really. Simpler. Kinda sad. For our kids. It's all my 13 yr old knows is technology. These kids wouldn't know how to work something manual. I can't believe, ever heard of 13 year old a that don't know how to ride a "two wheeler"?! Wow. Lol. Sorry. That cream bottle demo really got me really thinking! You took me right there with your explanation. That's what I'm trying to say :) thank you for that :) I hope u have a great day!
