This lovely was gifted to me just today. She's very musty smelling, her clothes are stained and faded but the gorgeous woollen national dress is amazing. Her skirt is panelled wool I believe with an over apron, equally colourful. She has a black cotton vest over the white lacy cotton undershirt, a pair of cotton knickers and petticoat. The shoes are a thin vinyl and I don't know if the necklace was added afterwards, in another era.
Her eyes work well and are a beautiful blue. She stands around 13 or 14 inches tall.
If anyone can tell me her origin and anything else worthy of knowing, I'd love it.
I know our doll expert will want you to look at the back of her neck for any marks, and if so, a photograph will be a great help!

The one through the link is in poor condition, as compared to the one on this thread, and there is no information given. She's a pretty doll! :)
Thank you katherinescollections, however I think you forgot to add the link! :)
I put the link up and did so because they were not marked so hard to tell who made her . It was to show you another one like yours :-)
Oh sorry, different names, I thought it was different person. Yes, I saw that, thank you very much. I agree the other doll is in nicer nick, I might ask the seller if they have any history on the doll.
Hello, this is a very nice doll and looks like she might be from Europe. She reminds me of a dolls that I played with in early 70's in Poland but her dress could be from Romania or Hungary as it has a slightly different design. If you would like to refresh the dress just do it in cold water as it will felt since it is possibly wool. She brought back some nice memories. Thank you.
I'm please this doll had good memories for you subi450, thank you for sharing. You are correct, her dress and overskirt/apron are in wool felt and I did contemplate cleaning them, however the rest of the costume seems to be affixed to the doll and unable to be cleaned separately.
I presumed she was of European origin because of all the colour and detail. And you have given me a clearer idea of how old she might be, actually somewhat younger than I first thought.
I am glad I could help. It still can be older than 70s it is just the style that is similar. I hope someone can pinpoint it little better.
I hope so too. I've actually just now put her whollers-bowlers into a gentle cold bath to try clean up her costume a bit! I might try and bring her hair up a bit nicer too.
