I knew I had another piece of S.Fielding & Company (Crown Devon) pottery somewhere. It has a place high up on the kitchen cupboard's gallery. Thought I'd re-post it as a companion piece to the Royal Wisterian vase from the other day. -Mike-

Found this at SA this morning. I joked with the cashier that I found the world's largest coffee cup. Joking aside this 9"dia. "chamber pot" doesn't look like it was ever used for it's intended purpose. Very little wear and no damage. Most of the gilt banding is still there. The mark on the bottom is clear but the registration numbers have worn away making an exact date impossible. S. Fielding & Co. Ltd., manufactured earthen wares at the Devon Pottery, Stoke on Trent, in the heart of the Staffordshire Potteries, England, from 1911. So I'm pretty sure 1911-12 would probably be right. Bet they had these on the Titanic ! The pattern is called "Etna" which is also marked on the bottom with some hand painted numbers. Probably the artist who painted it. A neat little find once you get past the gross factor. You can always put a plant in it .

I like chamber pots. I also like those fancy painted floral toilets I see once in awhile. I'd love to own one of those. Nobody has ever accused me of being normal...

I remember this Mike but didn't link it with your lovely wisteria vase.
Humans get silly about bodily process! Anyway - a pot was a very important item to have in a bedroom until relatively recently so why not have a beautiful one!

Thanks Karen....finding the online price guide book to flip through for free and ID these pieces was pretty cool too. This one is fairly pristine and I really don't think it was used much if at all. It's heavily crazed and shows no staining of any kind. :)
