The trunk was found at an estate sale in Germany. Legend has it that the owner was a WWII navy captain (yes, the other side!), but presumably traveled a lot! It's about 4.5 ft long. One of the front panels has 1809 painted on it, the other panel has Wb on it (capital W, lower case b). The two sides and the front panels have barely visible flowers painted on them (maybe tulips). The lid looks like it's been replaced (it looks like a tiny door to me!), although the hinges look very rustic). This is the first trunk I've ever bought, and I'd like to know more about it. If anyone can help, I'd be really appreciative!
