    This is one of my favourite cup and saucers. I love the colours. Its very white and hand painted, and the saucer is deep with no indent and has an impressed mark which looks like a 1 or l. If anyone has any ideas on makers age etc I would be grateful. (UK based).

      These colours, the blue, iron red and the gold are typical for the imari ware. It originates in Japan, but I think yours is an European imitation of the style. Possibly late 19th century?

      Thanks Martika, I think you are right, though the colours are similar to Gaudy Welsh patterns too.
