about ten years ago, i bought a beautiful gilded frame in San Miguel de Allende, GTO, MEX, and i always regretted not buying more of them. a few wks ago, i ran into the same framer - Antonio - who lives up in the mtns near SMA and i ordered 8 different gilded frames from him this time. they cost me a bit, but i think the craftsmanship is amazing. i spent around $400 sending them back to me here in the usa, but they arrived the day after i sent them in perfect condition. i just never see frames this good here in this country. Antonio makes them using very old gilding techniques he learned from his grandfather, who learned from his father.
What lovely craftsmanship Ho2 !
thank you mike!
High quality work for sure!
They are marvelous, I would hang them even empty as they are now :-)
thanks kyra! i've had such a difficult time finding really high quality, gilded frames which don't look factory made or cheesy and don't cost a fortune in this country.
