Another Civil War era carte de visite.

This one depicts an inventor with a model (patent model?) of his invention. I have not been able to find the exact patent yet, but suspect that it is some sort of plow, planter, or cultivator.

Any thoughts or input on the model are appreciated.

The cdv does not contain any information on the subject or his model. All I know is that it was photographed in Philadelphia by Keely and most likely was invented in the same general area.

I have no idea on the model. Can't be a Bale pick up thing.....as it seems to have only one long fork at the front.....could it be for Corn?

I do not know -- Neat pic -- As said, Every Photo tells a story !!

      Thanks rose-- good ideas.

The pole at the front looks to be part of the hitch hardware.

You may be on to something with the bale pickup idea. This could be multi- purpose of cultivator and bale pick up. That would make sense with the low cart on the side.

      THANKS-- back to researching!

....Did they make square Bales then -- or made those big Sheaves of Wheat. You know what I mean.....maybe to pick up those this was used for ??

Not sure-- I'll see what I find out and post an update.

Either way the "cart" portion looks like it was intended to pick something up.

rose-- I did a fairly extensive search with the idea of something for hay/ cart and no hits.
