This postcard is filled with technology that would have been considered advanced during the 1920s. While it is just a "stock" postcard, made to be printed with the name of any lake or pond, the fact that Cobbett's Pond is approximately 2 miles long and no more than a quarter of a mile wide (at the most) makes this card all the more humorous.
Thanks Sean!
I saw something similar once. None of their predictions for the year 2000, beyond 2, came true.
Fun piece.
Thanks everyone for looking.
SpiritBear, I think I am glad some of their predictions did not come true; especially the flying fish and sea monster shown in the card.
Soon, my friend. Too much pollution already makes 2-headed frogs.

Oh, this may have been a 'general' postcard made for any location. They just put on the location's name to make it look like it was made for there.
In this case, it was likely meant for more of an ocean community. Flying fish and whales are rarely in ponds! Nor are large steamers.
