I like a bit of craquele glass but don't see it very often in Japanese makes.
A nice deep squarish bowl made from a delightful green.
The outside has been coated in a white glass which has been treated at reheating so it crackles.
The rim is fire finished.
Nice Toyo sticker that looks to be from around the 1980s (from the little I have found).
BTW - there was some ceramics exported from Japan carrying a similar Toyo sticker. I don't think it was the same company but am not certain on that just yet.
17cm square (6.5in)
Looks older.
The green is delightful my friend
This looks very similar to Italian "Scavo" or excavated glass. Achieving the look of glass that has been buried in the ground for centuries. Very nice indeed ! :)
stunning. Doesnt it look like Loetz and Kralik?
What a delight.....the texture of course, but also the rim. Japanese glass just never stops surprising me in its diversity.
It's a guess on the date Gruff .... crackle seems to come and go in the art world. Thanks for the love.
Very nice to get your take Mike. It's a nice piece...mainly because of the green for me. Thanks. ....I could call my old skin scavo...lol!
Anne not at their standard maybe!
Ken thanks...Lovely to hear from you.
Japanese glass still constantly surprises me too Peggy. Who knew? Thanks!
WQow with out the label I would have thought probably Kralik Soft Crackle

Huh, I thought certain I'd left a comment on this when I looked at it the first time. :/
Well what I thought I said before, lol, was this looks very cool and fresh, like the skin of a honeydew melon, the color and texture, and the shape is one of my favorites, sort of that low soft rectangular bowl. Very appealing, Karen! :)
