I originally thought this was a horse/mule tether. I took it to a Railroad show and they identified it as a platform scale calibration weight. Internet searches have turned up nothing on "RR marked" weights. Your thoughts?
Weight calculations have always been important to railroads. Railroads have special cars to calibrate track scales with, so having weights for smaller scales would not surprise me. Railroads tend to mark everything that they own, so just because one hasn't been seen before doesn't mean it can't or does not exist. I know where there are several railroad marked manhole covers still in service in a parking lot from a long gone railroad.
