    Great old lock was wondering if it is petroleum product or any idea what it maybe. Thanks for any help. Cast iron horse head possibly missing second part or maybe emblem for door?

      Arnall's 6th edition refers to this iron lever lock as the "Pegasus" design but the manufacturer is unknown and it has nothing to do with the Pegasus Oil & Gas Co. / Mobile oil.
      The horse head looks like 1/2 of the top for a hitching post (pipe) which was a common sight on city streets long ago. It appears to never have been drilled for the rivets that would have held the two halves together or the ring, that would have been in the horse's mouth, for tying the reins.
