When I look at this vase I think of kelp.
I think of long strands waving in sea currents, waiting to be harvested for kombu by Japanese sea farmers.
Made by Sasaki glass and likely in the Takeuchi design years, around 1970.
Blow moulded and with a cut and polished lip.
After moulding it has been sand blasted to give it a wonderful matte finish that highlights the deep channels.
Height 16 cm (6 in)
CHOCOLATE CARAMEL ICE-CREAM....... Mmmmm. [;>)
They really made some nice glass and very underrated in my opinion
I see toffee !!! yummy and break me off a piece!!
Nice thought Blade, but I am oon a diet so for me it's kelp!
You too Sean- no toffee foe me.
Thanks guys! Love ya work.
Gruff it is my passion - I think Japanese glass is world class and don't get why so few collect it like me! Thanks mate.
Smooth Coffee Colored !!! YUM
Oh yes Rose.....loving the coffee thanks!
There's something about this I really like. Maybe the squareness of it. Nice piece
Beautiful, I love the dynamic surface, all the movement, looks so natural, I can see why you think of kelp, the sea floors when viewing it. And such a striking color! I can imagine what very red roses would look like in that vase. This is a unique piece of art. Gorgeous, like all your Japanese glass! I owe you so much in awakening me to its beauty, Karen, and I agree, more people ought to appreciate and collect it. :)
Hope you don't mind if I just love your posts and not make comments because...well I donno about nothing. :)
You have beautiful stuff and info and give lots of loves to everyone here.
Spanks gurlie!!
No worries OGF!
