My dad left this "drill motor," as it was called in our family, among his estate belongings and I'm wondering if anyone can help me determine its manufacture or sale date and original retail price. I know it goes back at least to the 1950s, possibly the 1940s before I was even born and Dad worked at Goodyear Aircraft in Akron, Ohio. These drills used a chuck key, which my dad had taped to the cord to make it readily accessible and prevent loss. Five decades of Las Vegas heat melted those multiple winds of tape into a sticky, messy blob, so, although I might never use the drill again (the modern cordless, keyless, reversible models are just so much more convenient), I bought a 3/8" keyless chuck attachment for it to "dress it up a little" and be able to remove all that ugly tape holding the chuck key. The drill still works perfectly, with plenty of torque, and the cord wasn't even blemished under that tape assault. Everything about this tool just speaks to a time when products were made to last!

I contacted Stanley with my questions regarding details about this vintage electric drill, but they informed me that Stanley was bought-out by Bosch in 1973 and no such information is available through them.
