This great Hattie Carnegie Jacket, 1930's, was purchased at an estate sale. Unfortunately, there is a "tear" along the fabric / lining at the right collar.

The jacket is in amazing condition - color & fabric are near mint for an item being at least 80+yrs old!

Is anyone experienced dealing with condition issues & suggested repair for such a highly important designers' item?

    Basically, the do's / don'ts.

Depends what your intention is, wear it or sell it? This is not a hard to repair fabric area or sewing challenge. Luckily, it will not show once it's on. Thanks for posting,

Take it to a qualified, experienced seamstress - not a mall hemming store. Looks like the collar has been hand sewed. I wouldn't attempt repairing an 80 yr. old jacket.
