Purchased this today in a French reclamation yard. It is wrought iron with a hollow brass ball at the top I think for burning oil. The top half can have it's height extended up to approx 6ft. It also has 3 brass rings at at different height ion the main central post. Can anyone tell me what it is

hi what you have is a telescopic oil lamp it should have a brass burner with turning nob on that will raise & lower the wick also a glass funnel that sit's on top of the burner, you should use paraffin in it.

mystery solved,thanks. I am missing the turning knob and wick holder, will have to look out for one to complete
The turning knob is part of the wick holder and you will need a glass
Funnel that slots inside the wick holder
