Found this in a box from an auction today....am curious what is the significance of the number under the name? Its marked sterling on the back and the clasp indicates it has some age on it.thanks for the help.
It is a WW2 era Identification bracelet.
Service members often wore these in addition to dogtags. I own some that are inscribed on the back with the information of the loved one who purchased it for the soldier.
