    this crucifix is about 2 1/2" x 2" the scroll at the top move slightly from side to side next to which is what looks like a wheel . I'm not sure what it is made of. Any information would welcome .

      These crucifixes were made in many sizes to accommodate Small and large Rosaries. They were also hung by strings/necklaces by monks and brothers in the Catholic Church. We have one that is approximately 6" long and it is decorated exactly like this one. They were relatively inexpensive and smaller ones were given to students in religious classes as awards for learning their catechism. They were made of a Zinc alloy with a hard dark wood inlay and date from the 1800's till the mid 1900's. RER

      I think my mom has one that is almost identical to this! Didn't realize it was so old!

      We were had Grey Nuns teaching us when we were in elementary school and they were the larger crucifixes like these in their sashes/belts. RER
