I purchased a home in New Orleans that had a run-down outbuilding in the back. We left the building alone for months before starting to look into the old termite damage there.

While looking at the walls of what we thought was a closet, we noticed a disused water pipe over head. It had once been a shower! More than that, peeling back more we discovered THREE of the walls were actually antique advertising tin signs. We carefully pried the signs off the studs, painstakingly removing the many nails attaching them. In the end, we were rewarded with three identical "Drink Regal Beer" signs with only minor nail-hole-age, and virtually no damage to the paint (the painted sides had been turned inward toward the studs). Unfortunately, one of the signs has a hole punched in it to allow the water pipe through - that one remains until I can re-work the plumbing.

The little research we did uncovered that Regal Beer, along with Dixie, Fallstaff and Jax were local New Orleans Beers operating pretty much until the interstate highway system allowed encroachment of outside beer brands into the NO market. I cannot find this same Regal ad image on Google searches.

Today, remnants of the Jax, Dixie and Falstaff brands are still prominent in the New Orleans landscape, but Regal (and the Regal Prince) has all but disappeared. I grew up here, and I never heard of it until now. There are no remaining Regal adverts on old buildings in town that I'm aware of, while Dixie, Jax and Fallstaff can all still be easily found.

I'd love to hear your insights on this. We are eager to get one of these beauties up on our kitchen wall.

    Cheers,
    D+K

Hey bywaterloo, I am in New Orleans and seeing if you still have these signs? Interested in parting with any of them?
