I just found this Limoges demitasse set in my attic. It was my grandmothers and my sister packed it up. The pattern is a gold encrusted rim with cobalt blue rings. The set consists of one coffee pot with lid, one sugar bowl with lid, creamer, tray, 5 demitasse coffee cups and 6 matching saucers. The mark on the bottom says "Limoges J.P.L. France," and a wreath with a W and a wreath with "J. Pouyat Limoges." It's so pretty and definitely from an era gone by! Does anyone know when it was made?

      Hi,
I was able to find these two examples of JPL Limoges. The correct colours but not quite the same as your pattern. The link that shows the two plates at least have the same mark as yours.
I would suggested you send a question to the person from e-bay that has posted the plates, (and one also to the cup seller?), and ask what year/decade were the plates made.
      I hope this helps.

http://www.replacements.com/collect/manu/L.htm another good place to search.

rubylane.com and Etsy.com are two others - but there are many Limoge sites.

For marks and Pouyat history, in French...:

Thank you, Gillian and kyratango! Looks like I have narrowed it down to 1891-1932. When I get home, I am going to magnify the wreath mark and see if I can read the letters in the ribbon. I also think I will look for a matching cup to complete the set, but I have not seen any so far that are exactly the same. Replacements.com lists the pattern as JPL015 (their reference) but has no info. Still searching for more info...

The first link I sent you, the one with the two plates - the plate on the right has a J. Pouyat, Limoges stamp, the left hand one is still Limoge but with a different maker's mark.

Thanks, Gillian. I hadn't noticed that!

Me again - click on a photo to enlarge it. Sometimes double clicking on a photo in a link will enlarge it. There maybe other suggestions.
