This was passed down from my grandmother who obtained it in the 1950s in the Middle East. It's an opium chest. That's all I really know about it. It is approximately 3 feet long and 2 feet wide.

The lock is labeled in English (Secure Level Lock), so I don't think it is made in the Middle East - and that's pretty big for Opium!
What is under the first level?
This looks more like a travel trunk or hope chest. Opium boxes are about the size of a cigar box, nothing as big as this. Also, British made Opium paraphernalia is almost none existent and this has the marks of being British made.
Beautiful trunk none the less!
