This is what I would describe as "slightly as found" but you have heard that before when I posted half a vase!
This is lacking a twist or ring on the thorn handle, as well as a corner of a "petal". It has been badly knocked about!
The examples in the Butlers Bros catalogue of 1928 come in "tangerine, brown and canary mottled variations" but not pink stripes. They are 5 1/4 in. diam. and 6 1/2 in. high.
This is 5 1/4 inches in diameter but would only have been, I suspect, 5 1/2 inches high with the twist or ring.
The way the handle is formed is in two pieces rather than one twisted piece - which is a significant difference to the image in the catalogue.
Nevertheless, the moulded roundel is very interesting as a link to the catalogue image, and the crimp seems identical.

snap! I have one of these....Can't even remember from where. There are quite a few of these around in this decor but with different shapes. Yours is the pure 6 sided flower.....Some have the small stripes, some the thick ones, others the honeycomb. And then you have the honeycomb.....

Ian, what do you think about the shorter handle on these. I find them a bit awkward, especially with the 6 sided petals etc....but your right the handle does vary in basket to basket and maker to maker....

Love them....thank you for sharing your

Thanks for your comment, Anne: I agree with your comment about size but I had to point out the discrepancy in size and colours between mine and the printed ad. Too alike not to mention, though.

im sorry Ian, I forget to mention the rondel. And they really only show up through photography. it gets missed, so often. Surely these are clues somewhere??? But you see because it's just a basket the "true" collectors see to glance and walk on by. "They" get very "sniffy" too about baskets. Have you notive the larger collectors rarely post baskets. I like you, adore them. I've noticed we've got many similar in decor.

They are hard to buy andeven harder I would imagine to sell on. They are gorgeous and so much more detail puy in to them than the vases. And yet, given the option, the vase is seen as the key to a collector.

I think weve spoken before too about the weight. This one not so much as she doesnt weigh much but some of the other floriforms weigh a tonne.

Sklo42 won't be too far away I would imagine. Hates a basket!!!!

Anne, I think EVERYONE has at least one basket, but you're right: not "in" and I like the idea of a neglected corner: just think of all the other niches that people post, like cruets, lamps, shades, samples, miniatures. The list goes on...

If baskets are not "in" then Welz baskets must really be the love that dare not speak its name! I will try to post a few more for your eyes only (and anyone else who's passing!)

lol this time I'm not taking you seriously! I am however going to send you a picture of the prettiest basket I've ever seen. I'd buy it if I could get the mortgage.....

I'm glad you wrote this...I nearly fell out of bed when I saw the price.....and don't you think that one looks a bit "twee"?
It reminded me of old Americana type ware.....
For some reason I didnt like it. Maybe being amber glass? Not a big fan. Or maybe two many twirls.
I feel awful now as you obviously like it. Feel comfortable in the knowledge that at 200 quid, it won't be me bumping up the price!
