Yesterday after work went to browse in charity shop and I found this beautiful carnelian stone with 2.5'' diameter for 99p. Whoever priced it, they thought it's a marble - marble eggs or carvings are abundant in charity shops and cheap. But this is semiprecious stone - carnelian and because it is banded it can be called agate too. It was once considered strictly the property of nobility, they were often buried with this gem. The surface cracks are natural, I read somewhere the stone has to be treated to get rid of the cracks.
Carnelian is a reddish-orange translucent variety of chalcedony. The colour is caused by iron impurities.
Thank you Thomas for your speedy love!
And thank you Sean68 and Manikin for your loves !!! xoxo
Beautiful!!!
NICE, but that eye! Sure would hate to wake up in the middle of the night and find that thing staring at me! lol. [;>)))))
Thank you Amatoorpikr and Nevada for your comments! Yes the eye looks bit freaky :P , but carnelian stones especially which resemble peepers, supposed to protect against the evil eye! This belief is originating from ancient Egypt. They carved carnelian stones to represent the eye of Horus, it was a powerful amulet for them.
Thank you everybody for your LUV xxx
Thanks, Martika, now I can sleep at ease. Thanks for educating me. [;>)
I have to thank you Nevada for reminding me it looks like an eye. Believe me or not it didn't occur me until I read your comment to look this up on google :)
So special. Blessed by the stone....it should aid you (apparently ) but most of all look wonderful.
Thank you Racer4four. It would be nice! When I was in my twenties I believed in the magical power of rocks. Later I became sceptical about all those things. But as an imagination is still nice.
Thanks CW folks for loving it!!! xxx
