Antique Late 1800's?hand carved leaf brooch

This leaf brooch with a C clasp is either late 1800's or early 1900's and was part of a lot that included the antique cigar holder I purchased recently and posted.
I don't know what this is except to tell you it is very smooth,hand carved and feels quite hard and dense.I hope it is not what I suspect it could be as I purchased these items on line and there was no mention of this brooches composition.
