Beautiful brilliantly colored wool blanket. We bought it recently in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This blanket/rug measures 4.9ft x 6.7ft. Two panel seamlessly sewn together.
It is in pristine condition with only a tiny hole (less than a dime in diameter) and some minor bleeding of colors.
We would like to determine its origin and age. We received different feedback in NM from 3 different sources. 2 of the 3 believed this rug is Rio Grande or Chimayo. Possibly made around the 1920's.
Gorgeous 8 point Vallero Star in the middle.
Also interested in knowing more about the type of dyes used on this blanket, especially the Indigo color most prominent on the Vallero Star design.
We are also interested in the meaning of the design and symbols.
In advance, thank you for any insights you might be able to provide to us.
Hi. Did you ever receive information on your beautiful piece? I just got something similar and am interested in it’s history. Thank you!
