Antique hair pin, around 1880,
As it was badly damaged, got it for cheap :-)
Sterling part is 2.18" by 1.3/4" or 5.5cm by 4.5cm.
Total length is 5.5" or 14cm.
Teeth are celluloid, not blonde turtle shell.
Kyratisation as usual for plique à jour, UV curing resin and permanent marker :-D
Great job as usual. Such a beautiful piece....imagine your hair up with this comb and it catching the light as you promenade.
Karen, thank you, it is a rather rare piece, beginning of plique à jour enamel revival :-)
I love this kind of enamel, so true it catch light wonderfully!
Helas I have short hair now, no more bun to pick it in :-/

Nevada! Ô_Ô even no hair! Lol!!! Thank you for the good laugh (and compliment!).
Kevin, Destiny.Jennifer, Gruff and Melanie, many thanks to all of you for your loves :-D
Nevada Blade's comment reminded me of when my daughter was a baby and another mother looked at her and nearly cried as my baby had an abundant head of black curls and her baby was nearly bald with just a strand of fine white blond hair sprouting from the middle of her head -- she had taped a bow to the baby's head, bless her heart. A mother's love. :) Now, kyratango, I have very long black hair, and I can tell you, a pretty pick like that makes me wish I still liked to wear my hair up instead of hanging down my back in a braid like a dead raccoon, lol! As always, your work is incredible, this hair pick was very lucky to fall into your talented hands. :)
Ha Katherine, love your baby story, and the bow on 3 hairs :-D
No! You certainly not wear a dead raccoon like braid! A glorious Pocahontas braid, yessss!
:-)
Super lovely. Where do you find these things, Kyra? My daughter was one of those blonde baldies-- for years. Now? Glorious mane.
Super lovely comment, Emme :-)
Congrats for your daughter's mane!
My finds are now from Ebay, but I haunted Paris flea markets and antique fairs for 30 years before moving in the countryside!
