    6. AnneLanders AnneLanders, 9 years ago
bit small antiquerose but yes, that is the design intent. However you would hardly become intoxicated from drinking one jugs worth.....
      thanks for the interest :)

thank you Karen, the metal work is the making of this jug. What also does it, is the green and the striking in white... I love it...I'll have to post the other item they got me...I chose, they paid...lol.

Hi Anne, what a fabulous Mothers Day present, your family must know you well. I'll keep a look out for plinths. What size/kind are you after? I have a few black glass ones but they'd be too big for this little sweetie.

Hi Fran, I'm glad you like my gorgeous plinth. I've put it on one of my rim plinths but it's very wide. I think I need a 3 inch wide but a high one if they make such a one.

      Cheers Anne

What I mean't Fran, the plinth I'm using is very wide so I need one smaller...as mentioned around 3 inches wide...

Anne,I don't know to what extent my assumptions are true but IMO this claret jug could be German ,I guess WMF.The mounting is so much Art Nouveau that it immediately brings WMF to my mind. The colour of glass also resembles WMF production. The bottom is polished on a whole surface what isn't a characteristic feature of Kralik's or PK's glass.Have you checked if a metal part has any markings?German products usually have marks.

I'll have a good look tomorrow Ivonne as it's the middle of the night. I understand why you say WMF but I don't know if they could have done the glass in as much detail.

Let's see if any of the Kralik and WMF experts want to come out and say anything.

Also this week a visitor said she thought it was an oil jug. Now I didn't check if she meant fine oils of fragrance or oils that the Greeks may have used for their olives or finger foods.

I'd always just seen this as a miniature water or alcohol jug. So many ppl like miniatures in glass. So many great vases are made to 4 or 5 inches.

I love the detailed threading on the glass too. It's stunning. I would read too much in to the polish. I'm a clean freak !
