I picked this up today at the local Goodwill. I like old pieces of pottery and this certainly had the look of it, though I did not recognize the mark or the sticker. But I loved the shape, and the pattern in the glaze and even though the glaze looks like its peeling on the handle and rim, I think it gives it character.
Can anyone help with the dating of this piece. I cannot find much information on it mostly because the information is in German. It is about 4" tall with straight sides.
The mark on the bottom says Germany and there is an arrow through a circle as well. The label says "allgäuer keramik handarbeit altstädten" and the most I can come up with is that the company started in 1923. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
allgäuer keramik is the name of the company keramik is ceramic.
...and do not remove or take off the label, as that adds Provence to the item!!
Super Piece !!
Yea I would never take the label off, it adds to the aesthetic. Its probably the only clue that would lead to figuring out how old it is.
I have been looking for a while trying different search terms and I cannot find a similar item from this company. I have found items that have a sticker, but those are a keystone shape. It could be that there is not a lot of information out there or it could be that the language divide is causing me issues. Either way, I will keep on looking!
