A postcard of the Dayton Disaster of 1913, where up to 20 feet of water inundated the town.
"April 25 - 13.
We received your card. Would like to hear how Ralph is getting along. Sarah brought this card from Dayton. She was in the flood and was rescued, but lost almost every thing she had-- write soon, [Minna Britt...??]"?
I assume Sarah had gone to the sender to stay, because she had lost her home, her place of work, and all of her life-savings. Perhaps even family and friends.
This postcard was written 103 years ago tomorrow (24 April 2016).
Very interesting, Brunswick-- and thanks for the comment. :)
