This is not my cup of tea. I usually buy only costume jewelry or silver but once in a while something else comes my way.
I am not sure about the age of the ring. I assume that it is a vintage item. There is a maker's mark next to 10KP but it is too small for me to read. It looks like a letter M or W inside a diamond, but it could be something else altogether.

Efesgirl, this one was not in the junk section but it was very well priced. I also had a coupon for a 30% discount. And last but not least, I returned the candlesticks because of lack of space. So I think I did OK with my purchase:)
