This piece is marked Shipton & Co, Birmingham hallmark, I think the year is 1967, there is no doubt in my mind this looks so much like Bernard Instones work, I have a similar silver moonstone brooch of his. I know Jewels1900 thinks that there might be a connection between Shipton & Co and Bernard Instone, I totally have to agree with her after seeing this piece of work. I think it as been converted from a brooch into a pendant, whoever converted it did a good job. There are 9 moonstone cabochons each in varying sizes, height and shapes, the colours of the moonstones are amazing. The leaves in my opinion is typical Instone, in fact this is totally Instone at his best.
I would love to hear what other people think.
Beautiful moonstone piece.
Amazing piece! [;>)
The leaves are Instone for sure. Another beautiful Instone for you Peasejean, and for us to drool over ;) If you look at the second photo, blow it up, and I think at the bottom of the middle ring you can see where the brooch pin may have been removed?
Thank you Caperkid, for your lovely comment.
Many thanks NevadaBlades, I really appreciate your comment :-)
Hi Gillian, I'm really happy your in the same mind has me, I've tried to contact his family about whether he did do work for Shipton & Co but I never had a reply. Yes you can see were the brooch pin would have been in that photo. Thanks so very much for your interest.
