This is a great knuckle compote by Franz Welz - as to the difference between copper aventurine and mica, I am not sure I have seen enough to comment but the base spots are very like Nason, so I guess copper aventurine?
A powder and confetti décor, but I imagine most of us would love to see the technique in progress!
Highly worked, it has a ground and polished pontil.
Almost as nice as Kralik versions! But this has a bottom-up spatter/confetti, which I adore and maybe makes it number one for me!
Form: Art Nouveau in influence but not - it seems - produced very early (others might know!); décor: Art Deco, although chanelling some of those earlier influences.
Small - 12cm high x 17.5cm in maximum width.
This shape appears in fig. 45, and the décor in fig. 34 of Craig's article in "All About Glass".
GREAT Welz and GREAT article-- nice to see it being referenced already.
