Have you ever seen anything like this ring? I've got a gentleman that wants to trade this for something of mine. Wondering if it's authentic, he says it's over 300 years old (post medieval), silver with Ibis birds on it.
The detail is rather poor I believe to be anything of value.
Let a jeweler see it before you agree to a swap. The stone looks to be a Carnelian, which is semi-precious but very common. Agree with Phil that the modeling/detail is poorly done.
Hi, welcome to CW!
Agree with you, Phil and Bonnie, adding I feel this pretty ring has a Middle Eastern feeling to me :-)
Yes, I agree with kyra on the Middle Eastern feeling. An Ibis was once considered sacred in Egypt. It's not difficult to create an "antique" ring, so beware.
Try getting some better closeup pictures, including the under side of stone.
I've added a picture of the underside, no identifying marks that I can see.
He also has a blue one which looks the same.
If same size and details... not so old...
Yep, looks fairly new, but it is kewl!!
