Saturday at the goodwill dumping ground where all the things not sold in the stores are sold by the pound before heading to the land fill, my daughter the Cali Girl pulled the body of this little treasure out of a bin. A woman standing next to her said "the heads over there if you want it ... But it looks used".
We grabbed both the head and the body and paid our 50 cents for the 1940's Shawnee Lucky the Elephant cookie jar. Gold trim still mostly intact on the head and the little name still visible on the chest ... a must have for any mid century kitchen and just "fun" !!!
